You do not need the Euro headlight switch to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
With the stock headlight switch, after disabling the DRL, you will get the following behavior (regardless of the hand brake lever's position):
| Headlight switch position | Highbeam switch position | Running lights, front and rear | Headlights | Foglights | Highbeams1 |
| OFF | OFF | OFF | OFF | OFF | OFF |
| ON | OFF | ON | ON | OFF | OFF |
| ON, pulled out one notch | OFF | ON | ON | ON | OFF |
| ON, pulled out one notch | ON | ON | ON | ON | ON |
With the Euro headlight switch, after disabling the DRL, you will get the following behavior (regardless of the hand barke lever's position):
| Headlight switch position | Highbeam switch position | Running lights, front and rear | Headlights | Foglights | Highbeams1 |

1 "Highbeams" refers to the HID's (outer headlights) high beam position. Separately, the inner flash-to-pass tungsten lights can be programmed with the VAG-COM to come on with the high beams or not.
